Dark Knight Freedom

It's not often that I get a chance to review fan films, so when Derby Productions' own Dark Knight: Freedom came up on  my radar, I had to dive in and watch it. It contains characters from the Batman franchise, including the Dark Knight himself, as well as a powerful message - this is enough to draw in even the most casual fan.

Here, we are presented with a movie that takes place five years after the events of The Dark Knight Rises, where we find Bruce Wayne living in a small town under the name of Thomas Meyer, and he is wracked with depression and guilt, contemplating suicide as the last and only resolution to his internal conflict. For this, he is seeking the counsel of a psychiatrist, Doctor Pamela.

While all of this is happening, and new gang calling themselves "The Sons of Batman" emerge as a new threat, calling Bruce out of retirement.

Without giving too much away, viewers will witness Batman's internal and external struggles come to a head. Old villains and demons emerge from the darkness. We find out exactly why Batman refuses to kill, and why he (as a mortal) cannot stand under the burden of being the savior of the world.

Rife with symbolism, action-packed fighting scenes, and dialogue that drives home the message right to the hearts of the viewers, Dark Knight Freedom is definitely a fan film that should not be missed.

Dark Knight Freedom will play at the Independence Cinema theater on September 3, 2015 at 11pm. If you want to get the latest news on Dark Knight Freedom and Derby Productions, head on over to their Facebook page.

Jake and the Giants is a brand new family feature filled with action and wholesome comedy for everyone to enjoy!

The movie focuses on 12-year old Jake and his twin sister, Joanie. They survive an attack by giants on their home town of Shiloh, and the two quickly discover that they are the only ones with a chance of rescuing their parents and other loved ones from the giants' gold mine, hidden deep within a mountain. Shot on location in Cleveland, Dublin and County Clare, Ireland, "The Yank" tells the story of Tom Murphy, a middle-aged Cleveland bachelor. For Tom, "the perfect woman" is beautiful, hard-working, family-oriented and (like his parents) of 100 percent Irish ancestry. So when his best friend, Marty, decides to get married in Ireland, Tom's family and friends send him off on a side splitting epic adventure. Tom does not know it yet, but he's about to come face to face with the real Ireland!
Tom's plan to find his dreams takes him on a journey of discovery to a land that defies his original expectations. He discovers that the grass isn't always greener, even in Ireland. With the help of family he's met for the first time, he's discovering what it is to be Irish in the year of The Gathering!
